Shri Sushil Kumar Lal (Chief General Manager, Bank of Baroda) took over as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nainital Bank Limited on 07th April 2025.

As the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Shri Lal will spearhead the Bank’s strategic vision for holistic growth while carrying forward the rich legacy of this 105-year-old institution. His leadership is expected to further strengthen the Bank’s market position through innovation, operational excellence, customer-centric initiatives, and the transformation of its digital infrastructure to meet evolving market demands and ensure long-term sustainability and viability.

Shri Lal holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree and possesses a strong academic and professional foundation. He is a qualified CAIIB and JAIIB professional and holds a Diploma in Information Technology. His academic credentials further include an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration, a Diploma in International Banking and Finance, and certification as a Treasury Professional.

Prior to joining The Nainital Bank Limited, Shri Lal served as Deputy Chief Risk Officer (DCRO) at Bank of Baroda. Over his distinguished career spanning more than 31 years in the banking and financial services industry, he has acquired extensive experience in risk management, audit, credit, operations, business development, regulatory compliance, governance, and strategic leadership.

Demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning, professional excellence, and corporate leadership, Shri Lal has successfully completed the Director’s Programme on Corporate Governance conducted by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs. He has also earned the globally recognized Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) Certification awarded by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), reflecting his expertise in sustainability, climate-related financial risks, risk governance, and emerging regulatory frameworks. These achievements complement his extensive experience in enterprise risk management and reinforce his capability to lead the Bank in an increasingly dynamic and sustainability-focused financial landscape.

With his vast experience, strong governance orientation, deep understanding of risk management, and forward-looking vision, Shri Lal is well-positioned to lead The Nainital Bank Limited into its next phase of growth, digital transformation, operational excellence, and sustainable value creation for customers, employees, shareholders, and the wider community.
